Film Streams is thrilled to announce a Spring repertory series celebrating the work of Academy Award-winning actress Julianne Moore, who will be the special guest for Feature VII (April 24), a fundraiser benefitting Omaha’s film nonprofit. Film Stream’s repertory programming is generously sponsored by Omaha Steaks. Known for subtle yet intense performances, Moore has forged a singular career through her nuanced portrayals of enigmatic characters with deep internal struggles. Film Streams’ tribute spans the actress’ remarkable screen career, from scene-stealing supporting roles to stand-up-and-take-notice leading turns. The program launches the first week of April with FAR FROM HEAVEN, director Todd Haynes’ sumptuous homage to the work of Douglas Sirk — a fitting bridge from our current repertory series devoted to the director — and the poignant drama STILL ALICE, for which Moore won Oscar gold. Other titles screening at Film Streams’ Ruth Sokolof Theater include Moore’s astonishing work with Louis Malle (VANYA ON 42ND STREET), Paul Thomas Anderson (BOOGIE NIGHTS, MAGNOLIA) and the Coen brothers (THE BIG LEBOWSKI), as well as bravura performances in Lisa Cholodenko’s THE KIDS ARE ALL RIGHT, Alfonso Cuarón’s CHILDREN OF MEN, THE END OF THE AFFAIR, SAFE and THE HOURS. Moore also selected two films from which she draws inspiration: ROSEMARY’S BABY and Robert Altman’s 3 WOMEN. Please see the attached press release for more information about the films in this series, or visit our Julianne Moore: Selected Work page at http://bit.ly/2ngST9t. Tickets for all showings in the series are $9 general, $7 for seniors, students, teachers, military, and those arriving by bicycle, and $4.50 for Film Streams Members. Advance tickets can be purchased with no extra fees at www.filmstreams.org or at the box office inside Film Streams’ Ruth Sokolof Theater. Film Streams’ Feature VII with Julianne Moore and Alexander Payne On Monday, April 24, 2017, Ms. Moore will join fellow Oscar winner Alexander Payne for Film Streams’ Feature VII at the Holland Performing Arts Center. Proceeds from the event support Film Streams’ programs and day-to-day operations. The event will be a welcome-back of sorts for Ms. Moore, who as a child lived briefly in Omaha. The centerpiece of the evening will be an on-stage conversation between Payne and Moore about the actress’ acclaimed career and perspective on the medium, beginning at 7 pm. Single tickets for the event (on sale now) start at $35, with additional gift levels offering pre- and post-party options. A limited amount of vouchers to the Feature VII main presentation for students and artists will be available. More event details and ticketing will be available at http://bit.ly/2kXAyOa.
