1 driver dies in Nebraska crash of 3 big rigs

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — One driver has been killed in a crash involving three semitrailers on Interstate 80 in southeast Nebraska.

The Nebraska State Patrol says the accident occurred around 4:40 p.m. Thursday just west of the Seward exit. The patrol says two eastbound big rigs had stopped because of construction, but a third big rig coming up from behind didn't stop in time and rammed the rear of one, which ran into the rear of the other truck.

The patrol says the driver of the truck that didn't stop was pronounced dead at the scene, and a passenger in the truck was flown to a Lincoln hospital. One of the other truck drivers was taken to Memorial Hospital in Seward with minor injuries. The remaining driver wasn't hurt.

No names have been released.
