Omaha, NE – The Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts will hold its 12th Annual Art Auction in early November.
In advance of the auction, the Bemis Center is opening two exhibitions this weekend, complete with all the works that will be available for purchase during the Art Auction. Curator Hesse McGraw says this year there are two separate auctions, one in the Bemis Center and one in the bemisUnderground. McGraw says it's exciting because adding the extra space has allowed the Bemis to expand the structure of the auction. He says, "It allowed us to include more local artists as well as multiple pieces by many artists."
McGraw says the Bemis staff tries to install the exhibit so it comes across as a celebration of the diversity and breadth of contemporary art practice. He says the exhibitions have everything from sculptural installations and video works to paintings and more conceptual pieces.
The exhibition opens on Friday with a reception from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Additionally, all auction artwork may be previewed online at www.bemiscenter.org beginning Friday.
