This year’s Heartland Latino Leadership Conference begins Thursday, November 8th with a Career Expo and Youth Rally.

Julissa Lara, President of the Board of Directors for the conference, says the theme is “Developing Authentic Leaders and Establishing Community Success.”

She says this year’s conference is meant to include not only repeat attendees, but also to appeal to a larger audience.  Lara says one way the conference achieves that goal is by presenting dynamic speakers.

"Our keynote speaker at lunch is Graciela Tiscareno-Sato and her topic is “Grabbing Opportunity in the Green Innovation Economy.  And she’s written a book based on the experiences and the stories she’s gathered of Latinos that are succeeding in developing green small businesses.”

Other events on Friday include workshops, a gala reception and a concert celebration.

The conference takes place Thursday, November 8th and Friday, November 9th at the Omaha Hilton.
