The Greater Omaha Young Professionalsrecently announced their 2013 board members.
Andres Torres, an Engineering Project Manager for Valmont Industries, decided to join the board because of the group’s passion for making Omaha a better city to live in.
Torres feels he can bring a unique perspective to the committee since he was born in Colombia and has only lived in the United States for 12 years.
He says he hopes to help people connect with one another through his new position.
"If you are connected, you are going to make a difference. And Omaha is not small, it’s not big, it’s the right size. And if you want to get involved, you can make a difference. For example, if you can go to a high school and you talk to students about your career and your experience as a young professional. You can make a difference. You are going to be the role model of 30 or 40 different high school students.”
Torres will serve on the Greater Omaha Young Professionals’ board for three years.
