20th annual Art & Soup event is this weekend

The Visiting Nurse Association is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its annual Art & Soup fundraiser this weekend.

Caryn Hohnholt, Vice President of Development for the VNA, says more than 40 juried artists will have work available for purchase in a variety of mediums including jewelry, photography and wood sculpture.

Hohnholt says this year, the event will feature soups from 18 restaurants.  She says those attending the event can taste as many as they wish.

Hohnholt says 100% of the proceeds from the event go to support the VNA’s shelter nursing program.

"Providing care from minor first aid care to helping manage chronic diseases. These are people without resources and we can’t bill for these services.  So 100% of this program is funded by the community.  About 50% is grants and donations from individuals.  And then the other 50% comes from this event.  It’s a fun event and it’s doing some great things in the community.”

Last year, VNA shelter nurses proved over 9,000 face-to-face visits in all the homeless and domestic violence shelters in Omaha and Council Bluffs.

The VNA’s Art & Soup event takes place Sunday at the Embassy Suites in La Vista from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.  Tickets are available at the door.
