24 Hours of Impact takes place this Friday

Omaha’s first 24 Hours of Impact event takes place this Friday, July 24th.

The goal is for everyone to give up just one hour on one day to make a positive impact in the community. Ross Polking, Partner and Lead Advisor with Foster Group, was part of a group that just graduated from Leadership Omaha.

Polking says for his small group project, he and the six other members of his group wanted to create an event that positively impacted the community.

But they didn’t want the event to have anything to do with money.  He says that way everyone could participate, because every person has the same 24 hours in a day available.

"ConAgra is orchestrating a partnership with the food bank, doing a lot of work with them.  On the other end of the spectrum, we’ve got families putting up a lemonade stand and giving away lemonade for free.”

He says other groups are doing clean ups around the schools. Polking says people can sign up to help out through Friday.

He says if you want to help but aren’t sure what to do, 24 Hours of Impact has several non-profits who have projects you can easily plug into.
