35 percent voter turnout projection for Tuesday's election

About 7,200 people voted early by mail in the primary election in Douglas County.

That’s according to Election Commissioner Dave Phipps.  Phipps says he expects about 21,000 to vote by mail for this election.  Though early voting by mail is now over, those who want to cast their ballots early may do so through the end of Monday at the Douglas County Election Commission Office.

Phipps says there haven’t been any unusual questions in advance of the election. "If you are registered, you should be good to go.  You won’t receive any other notifications unless something has changed so go to the normal polling place you went to in the fall and that should be exactly where you need to go. You don’t have any changes if you didn’t get any notice from us.”

Phipps’ office predicts voter turnout for Tuesday’s election at 35 percent. The Douglas County Election Commission Office is located at 225 N. 115th Street.

Polls are open Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.  Information on the candidates is available online at at votedouglascounty.com.
