By Katie Knapp Schubert and Cheril Lee

Omaha, NE – 4,800 Omaha Public Power District customers remained without power Thursday morning after a powerful storm moved through the metro Wednesday evening.

OPPD says the storm knocked down 14 large transmission line support structures near Valley. Power poles and lines were down near the National Weather Service office in Valley, according to storm reports. Crews from NPPD and Lincoln Electric System are helping OPPD crews restore power.

Wind gusts of 80 miles per hour were reported during Wednesday's storms. That downed trees in Elkhorn, Council Bluffs, Waverly, and near Pacific Junction, Iowa.

The storm also dumped more than three inches of rain in Saunders County.
