7-Month Parking Study to Begin in September

By Cheril Lee

Omaha, NE – The Omaha Downtown Improvement District Association recently announced a 7-month study that will focus on parking in downtown Omaha.

Executive Director Joe Gudenrath says the group hopes to examine downtown Omaha's parking system and solicit public input. Ultimately, the Downtown Improvement District hopes to take some of these ideas, along with expert recommendations, and enhance the parking experience for everyone who visits downtown. Gudenrath says some of the more common problems with downtown parking include parking garages sitting half-empty while streets are filled with cars.

He says parking consultant experts will come in and look at the entire parking system in the downtown area from top to bottom, "From its management to the types of meters we have on the streets." Gudenrath says the study kicks off this month.
