$80,000 will be awarded later this month through Mayor Suttle's 2011 Neighborhood Grant Program

By Cheril Lee

Omaha, NE – The City of Omaha just finished accepting applications for Mayor Jim Suttle's 2011 Neighborhood Grant Program.

Mayor Suttle says the program started in 2002 and includes two categories: Neighborhood Green Improvement and Neighborhood Crime Prevention. He says the program will award $80,000 dollars this year to various neighborhood and business associations so they can work on projects that address neighborhood concerns and challenges, "They may be small in nature when you look at them but they are big in need. So this lets the neighborhood pick the priority and lets us be a partner with them to say you're going to match dollars and we're going to match dollars, now let's get going with the implementation."

Winners of the Neighborhood Grants will be announced on April 22nd.
