Actor Levar Burton headlines the Nebraska Science Festival this April

The Nebraska Science Festival returns for its 4th year April 15th through the 23rd with a whole host of events including a student expo at the Strategic Air & Space Museum, a 3-D Invent-a-thon and the WATER exhibit at KANEKO.

Kacie Baum, Events and Science Outreach Coordinator for UNMC, says the this year’s keynote speaker is actor Levar Burton, known for his work on “Star Trek” as well as “Reading Rainbow”.

Burton’s talk is called “Technology & Storytelling: Making a Difference in the Digital Age” and will take place at the Joslyn Art Museum’s Witherspoon Concert Hall on April 22nd.

"The purpose is to get Nebraska excited about science and show off all the really amazing things that Nebraska has that are related to science, things you might not think about when you think of science.  We want to show you that there is science in everything you do and make it fun and accessible for all ages.”

Tickets for Levar Burton’s presentation will be released at Noon on Tuesday, March 22nd through eventbrite.com and are limited to four per person.

A complete list of events is available online at nescifest.com.
