American Red Cross' Heroes in the Heartland Luncheon set for tomorrow

The American Red Cross is presenting its 15th annual Heroes in the Heartland luncheon this Wednesday at the Embassy Suites La Vista Conference Center.

Liz Dorland, Communications Officer for the Nebraska, Southwest Iowa, Kansas Region of the American Red Cross, says the luncheon offers the Red Cross an opportunity to honor local heroes in our community.

She says these are people who have valiantly served and are making our community a better and safer place to live and raise a family.

The money that is made from the tickets sold to the luncheon goes back to the Red Cross.

"You’re supporting the mission and the work that the American Red Cross does every single day whether it’s responding to a home fire that happens in our area, delivering disaster relief to a larger disaster like the Pilger tornadoes, or helping a blood drive.  Each individual thing the Red Cross does is supported by this event.”

Awards given out at the luncheon include the Help a Hungry Hero, the Gift of Life Hero and the Disaster Relief Hero.

The Heroes in the Heartland luncheon starts at 11:45 a.m. this Wednesday.
