American Red Cross opening blood donor call center in Omaha

By Katie Knapp Schubert

Omaha, NE – The American Red Cross plans to consolidate its blood donor call centers into three central locations, with one in the Omaha area.

The new call center will open in July in the Chalco Valley Tech Center. It'll mean 125 new jobs for the metro area. Red Cross spokeswoman April Oppliger says the call center consolidation will improve both customer service and efficiency.

115 employees at Omaha's current call center will relocate to the new facility once it opens. Tucson, Arizona, and Charlotte, North Carolina are the other two cities that'll host call center.

Oppliger says expanded call centers are important at a time when fewer people are donating blood.
