Another candidate enters District 18 race

Another candidate is entering the race for the District 18 seat in the Nebraska Legislature.

Joe Vaughn announced his candidacy earlier this week. He joins Brett Lindstrom in the race for the state legislature. Vaughn says he decided to run for office because he feels many elected officials are out-of-touch with their constituents.

"I truly want to put people ahead of politics. I want them to know that I’m not part of the political mainstream, you know, I will effectively represent them because I will not be bought and paid for by special interests, big money, so on and so forth."

Vaughn says his key campaign issue is fighting big money in politics. The District 18 seat is currently held by Senator Scott Lautenbaugh.

The primary election is May 13, 2014.
