Another Nebraska is on view at the Bemis Center and the Fred Simon Gallery

By Cheril Lee

Omaha, NE – The Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts is presenting an exhibit featuring the work of nine Nebraska artists.

Curator Hesse McGraw says the collection features works from the 2010 Nebraska Arts Council Individual Artist Fellowship recipients. He says works on view include an interactive light installation, a suite of meditative paintings and drawings and woven tapestries. McGraw says all of the artists are deeply invested in what they are doing. He says, "ultimately I think it's about recognizing the value that living artists bring to the public life of a place. You know, in a political climate where funding from the NEA is always at stake, I think this exhibition provides a really direct example of the value of that support."

Another Nebraska runs through April 9th at the Bemis Center and the Fred Simon Gallery. The Bemis is located at 12th and Leavenworth Streets.
