Another tuberculosis case in Douglas County

By Katie Knapp

Omaha, NE – Douglas County is reporting another case of tuberculosis, this time at one of the city's homeless shelters.

The Douglas County Health Department says a man who was staying at the Open Door Mission is recovering from TB. Health Department officials plan to test clients and staff Monday and Tuesday.

Tuberculosis is spread from person to person through the air. It's treatable with the right medication. Symptoms include fever, night sweats, weight loss, and weakness.

Douglas County recorded ten cases of tuberculosis in 2007. The county has surpassed that number of cases already this year.
