April is Earth Month at UNO.
Sarah Burke is the university’s Sustainability Coordinator. She says in addition to five events being hosted by her office, there are multiple departments and student organizations that are planning and offering events as well.
Burke says the week kicks off tomorrow with a Campus Waste Sort at the Milo Bail Student Center. She says a whole day’s worth of waste will be spread out and sorted.
On April 10th, Maverick Productions, a student organization, will offer an event where students can choose different styles of small plants and pick up pots to put them in.
"We also are having, on April 13th, our transportation showcase which we hold twice a year. And this showcase highlights all of the alternative transportation options that we offer to students, faculty and staff on campus. So one of the main things we will be highlighting is our Mav Ride program, which is 100% free for all our students, faculty and staff.”
Burke says on April 21st, there will be a Sustainability Launch Pad with a theme focused on transportation. The event is free and open to the public.
A complete schedule of Earth Month events is available on the UNO Sustainability page on Facebook.
