Artists Support Artists at the Bemis

There are about 250 artists participating in the Bemis Center’s14th Annual Art Auction this Saturday.

Hesse McGraw, Chief Curator for the Bemis, says proceeds from the works that are sold support future artists-in-residence and artists the Bemis works with on projects.  He says the media included ranges from paintings and drawings to performance works and video.

Hesse says the silent auction will span three first floor galleries and the underground space.  New this year, he says the Bemis will offer an electronic bidding system.

"Provides an opportunity for people to bid on works wherever they’re at in the galleries.  We have a number of tablets that are at the bidding stations.  But you can also bid from your Smartphone or from an iPad.  It’s really very convenient and it allows a patron to track all of their bids simultaneously.”

The Bemis Center for Contemporary Artsholds its 14th annual Art Auction this Saturday from 5:30 to 10:00 p.m.
