Omaha, NE – Nebraska Attorney General Jon Bruning is considering a run for the U.S. Senate in 2012 against Ben Nelson.
Bruning announced Friday he's formed a U.S. Senate Exploratory Committee. That's the first step toward a possible run for the Senate. Bruning's announcement came one day after Governor Dave Heineman announced he wouldn't run for Senate.
In a news release, Bruning says the national deficit and health care overhaul law are among the reasons he's considering a Senate campaign.
Bruning was elected as Attorney General in 2002.
