Ballet Nebraska kicks off its 8th season with "Momentum"

New this year, Ballet Nebraska will start its 2017-2018 season with its mixed repertory program Momentum.

Erika Overturff, Artistic Director and CEO for Ballet Nebraska, says the program will feature a medley of Bob Fosse choreography.

Momentum: Fosse Style will be on stage at Joslyn Art Museum October 20th and at the Iowa Western Arts Center October 22nd.

Overturff says the most exciting thing about the Momentum show is that special guest and Broadway superstar Ann Reinking will be staging the Fosse medley.

"She was his sort of muse and protégé for years and has been in films, starred in Broadway shows and then is also an award-winning choreography.  Her background and experience is just incredible and then to get to study and learn and perform Fosse’s iconic style through her instruction will be a wonderful opportunity not only for our dancers, but also for our audience.”

Momentum is followed by The Nutcracker, complete with a cast of 130 professional and student dancers.

And Overturff says the season wraps up with A Midsummer Night’s Dream, choreographed by a former Royal Danish Ballet dancer.

Season tickets are available now at balletnebraska.org.
