Ballet Nebraska kicks off its sixth season this October

Ballet Nebraska will present a piece from its first production of the 2015-2016 season on September 11th as part of Opera Omaha’s Opera Outdoors event.

Erika Overturff, Artistic Director, says Ballet Nebraska will open its season on October 2nd at the Orpheum Theatre with Cleopatra, a work she choreographed.

In November and December, Ballet Nebraska will offer the The Nutcracker, complete with a new “Waltz of the Flowers” scene.

Overturff says the season wraps up with a mixed-repertory program called Momentum: Go West.

"That is inspired by the spirit and stories of the American west. So there are songs about cowboys and tumbleweeds.  There’s yodeling.  Once we started working on it, we realized there was so much good material there.  That spirit of exploration and traveling west and the excitement and energy sort of shaped our whole country for a period of time.”

Overturff choreographed Go West! and says the piece is presented in collaboration with Joslyn Art Museum.

The Joslyn will bring the exhibition Go West! Art of the American Frontier to the museum this November.
