Ballet Nebraska Presents "Momentum"

Ballet Nebraska recently received a $20,000 grant from the Iowa West Foundation.

Erika Overturff, Artistic Director, says the funds will be used to bring Momentum to area students.

She says Ballet Nebraska will work with Joslyn Art Museum to bring students in to see a performance of Momentum and tour the new Poseidon exhibit.

Overturff says Momentum is Ballet Nebraska’s mixed repertory program.

"Matthew Carter, our ballet master, is choreographing a new ballet called “Poseidon” and it’s a really elegant, neo-classical ballet that will be featured on the program.  I am working on a new ballet for the program called “Party Animals,” which is sort of a reimagining of “Carnival of the Animals.”  There are cheetahs, lions and zebras.  It’s a fun, upbeat ballet.”

Momentum takes place Friday, May 2nd at Joslyn Art Museum and Sunday, May 4th at the Iowa Western Community College Arts Center in Council Bluffs.
