Omaha, NE – Omaha Mayor Mike Fahey and Stadium Oversight Committee Chairman Ken Stinson announced Monday the selection of Lots C and E for a new stadium. The decision came after several months of review by the ballpark committee, who looked at eight potential downtown sites. Two options for renovating Rosenblatt Stadium were also considered. Stinson would not disclose the cost of a new stadium, but says three sources of funding could be used to pay for it. However, the use of Qwest Center Lots C and E is in dispute. MECA voted 4 to 1 last week to reject any plans for a new ballpark on those parking lots. Mayor Fahey says he hopes city officials and the committee can reach an agreement with MECA.
