Baroque Fireworks from the Omaha Symphony

The Omaha Symphony performs Baroque Fireworks this Saturday. The program includes staples of the Baroque repertoire, including Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 5, Pachelbel's Canon in D, and Handel's Royal Fireworks Music, selections that have almost universal familiarity. The orchestra will be under the expert hand of visiting conductor, David Hill, who will play the Symphony's recently restored William Dowd harpsichord during the Brandenburg Concerto. Hill is widely respected as both a choral and orchestral conductor. He is Chief Conductor of the BBC Singers, Musical Director of the Bach Choir, Music Director of the Leeds Philharmonic Society and Associate Guest conductor of the Bournemouth Symphony.  David Hill joined Michael Lyon Friday morning for a preview of the concert, which takes place Saturday at 8:00 p.m. at the Holland. Information is available at www.omahasymphony.org.

Michael Lyon is a native of great Britain who immigrated to Los Angeles in 1981. His business background is in banking: residential real estate operations, mergers and acquisitions. As Director of Fair Lending for the nation's largest thrift, he oversaw the implementation of a $70 million 10-year community reinvestment initiative.
