Bellevue Police Chief on administrative leave
Longtime Bellevue Police Chief John Stacey is on administrative leave.
Bellevue city administrator Dan Berlowitz confirmed Thursday morning Stacey is on leave while the city attorney investigates a personnel matter. Berlowitz couldn’t disclose any additional information.
Police Captain Mark Elbert is serving as Acting Police Chief while the investigation is underway. Berlowitz says the investigation could take one to two weeks. A decision on Stacey’s status with the Department will be made after that.
Stacey has served as Bellevue's Police Chief for more than 30 years.
