The Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts will present two new exhibits starting tomorrow

The Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts will present two new exhibits beginning tomorrow and running through September 17th.

Chris Cook, Executive Director for the Bemis, says Time + Space: Futures is the second chapter of a two-part exhibition series the Bemis is organizing this year to celebrate its 35th anniversary.

Cook says the first chapter of the two-part series explored the origins of the Bemis center as a residency program that invited artists from all over the world to come to Omaha.

He says artists worked with earth-based materials for the first chapter.  Cook says the second chapter looks at the future of the organization.

"It includes artwork by nine artists, all of who are former artists-in-residence of the Bemis Center.  And all of the artists, in some way, are, through their work, looking at or trying to understand what the future implies and what it might be.”

Cook says the work takes many approaches to this broad topic.

He says the exhibit presents bold and forward thinking ideas about how we should be looking at the future today, including magic, artificial intelligence and futuristic architecture.

The Bemis will also present an exhibit called Nebraska Rising that will run through September 17th as well.  More information on both exhibits is available online at BemisCenter.org.
