The Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts will hold an Open House/Open Studios event this Saturday.
Holly Kranker, Residency Program Manager for the Bemis, says the day starts with a Members Mimosa Brunch from 10:30 to Noon.
The public is welcome to attend the Open House event starting at Noon. Kranker says there will be nine ARTalks starting at Noon.
That will be followed by a live performance featuring two artists. And then the studios are open from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
Kranker says the Open House/Open Studios event is held three times a year and coincides with each residency session, usually toward the end of the artists’ time at the Bemis.
"It’s really a rare opportunity for the community to see artworks being developed and the process behind what goes into making a piece of art. We always see the finished product. We often times don’t see the research, the development or the trial and error that goes along with it. And I think it’s exciting to pull the curtain back and see how their process unfolds.”
Kranker says the day’s activities wrap up with an all-ages art activity with artist Pamela Conyers-Hinson.
