Benedict woman appointed to Nebraska state parole board

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — A parole supervisor from Benedict has been chosen to fill an open seat on the Nebraska Board of Parole.

Governor Pete Ricketts announced Thursday that he has named Teresa Bittinger to the post.

Bittinger has served as a parole supervisor for the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services since 2011. She previously served as a unit manager, corrections lieutenant and corrections corporal in the department. She also served as a certified jailer and emergency dispatcher in Fillmore County.

Bittinger's term begins on February 11th and expires on September 9th, 2019. Her annual salary will be $77,223.

The Nebraska Board of Parole is a five-member board which reviews the status of criminal offenders, determines when to grant parole, and sets conditions for parole.
