The Best Of The 2007 Detroit Jazz Festival

Omaha, Nebraska – Join us as KIOS presents highlights from the 2007 Detroit Jazz Festival in two parts beginning Thursday August 21 at 8:00PM.

The Detroit Jazz Festival was founded in 1980 and has become the largest free jazz festival in North America. In 2007, the JazzTimes Readers Poll ranked the festival in the top five. The 2007 festival was billed as "The Rumble in the Great Lakes" honoring the jazz roots of Detroit and Chicago and a friendly on stage challenge between artists from the two cities.

The lineup for the August 21 show includes the Carl Allen / Rodney Whitaker Project, Patti Ausin & The Gerald Wilson Orchestra, Stanley Jordan Trio, Classical Jazz Quartet, The Russell Malone Quartet with Grace Kelly.

Part One is hosted by Linda Yohn of WEMU in Ypsilanti, Michigan. The series was produced by Dr. Jazz, Linda Yohn and Terry Pontremoli.

Part One of the 2007 Detroit Jazz Festival will air at 8:00pm Thursday on KIOS. Part Two will air Friday, August 29 at 7:00pm.
