Beveridge Magnet Middle School

Beveridge Magnet Middle School staff, students and community participated in a groundbreaking ceremony recently to celebrate the school’s renovation project.

Mayor Jean Stothert and OPS Superintendent Mark Evans were both in attendance.

Renovation work will include a fire alarm system replacement, a video intercom system and parent drop off area improvements.

Monique Farmer, Director of OPS District Communications, says OPS is thrilled to be at the point where they are ready to start construction at Beveridge.

She says there will also be improvements aimed at energy-efficiency.

"They’re going to have a new geothermal heating and cooling system put into place.  Right now, they still have window units here in the school.  So obviously a lot of happy faces on students, knowing they are going to have central air school-wide when they get back to that school, after the renovation.”

The projected cost for all the renovations at Beveridge Magnet Middle School is $34.6 million.  Farmer says the funds for the renovation are coming from the 2014 bond approved by Omaha tax payers.

Farmer says OPS is excited to renovate the school and improve the learning environment for both students and staff.
