Bids for private lunch with Warren Buffett top $1M

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — The price of a private lunch with investor Warren Buffett is already over $1 million, and there is still more than a day left in the online auction that benefits a California charity.

The top bid Thursday morning was $1,000,300, so the auction is guaranteed to exceed last year's winning price of $1,000,100.

But the auction has a ways to go before approaching the record price of $3,456,789 an anonymous bidder paid in 2012 for lunch with Buffett, who is the top executive at Berkshire Hathaway and a prominent philanthropist.

The auction benefits the Glide Foundation, which provides social services to the poor and homeless in San Francisco.

Bidding continues until 9:30 p.m. CDT Friday.
