Blizzard Warning canceled for Omaha; conditions remain hazardous

By Katie Knapp Schubert

Omaha, NE – A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Omaha.

Snowfall totals range from 7 inches in Fremont to 12 inches in Shenandoah, IA. Papillion reported 8.8 inches of snow this morning. 10 inches of snow fell in Gretna and Oakland, IA had 9.5 inches of snow.

Strong winds created blowing and drifting conditions that closed some roads. Those conditions are also causing difficulties for crews trying to restore power. MidAmerican Energy and OPPD are both working to restore power to customers affected by the storm.

The National Weather Service says an additional two to four inches of snow are possible before the system moves out. There's also still a risk of blowing and drifting snow through Saturday.
