Board can keep some secrets, attorney general's office says

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — The Nebraska attorney general's office says the agency that runs Century Link Center and TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha may keep some secrets.

The Omaha World-Herald reports that the office concluded the Metropolitan Entertainment and Convention Authority doesn't have to publicly share the prices of suites or the names of those who own or lease them. Common Cause Nebraska had asked for the records in February, after the office said in an October opinion that the authority should follow the state's open records law.

The authority denied Common Cause's request, saying the records law doesn't require public agencies to release proprietary and commercial information. The attorney general's office agreed.

The attorney general's office opinions are not legally binding and can be taken to district courts for rulings.
