Body of missing 5-year-old Omaha boy found

Omaha Police say the body of a missing 5-year-old boy has been found.

The body of a small boy was found just after 10 a.m. along the east bank of the Elkhorn River. Authorities believe it’s the body of 5-year-old Josue Ramirez-Marinero.

He was reported missing last Thursday and an Amber Alert was issued. Local and state crews had been searching in and around the Elkhorn River for Ramirez-Marinero since last Friday. Divers recovered the body from the river this morning.

The body of Ramirez-Marinero’s mother, 45-year-old Jesus Ismenia Marinero, was found last Wednesday at 4th and Cedar Streets. Her 25-year-old son, Roberto Martinez-Marinero, is in custody in connection with her death.

Marinero’s 11-month-old son, Angel, was found alive in a dumpster in La Vista Wednesday evening.
