Book of Mormon onstage at the Orpheum

Actor A.J. Holmes plays “Elder Cunningham” in The Book of Mormon, currently onstage at the Orpheum Theater

Holmes says he feels extremely lucky to be part of such a popular show.

Holmes’ appearance in Omaha is his first with Book of Mormon.  He literally took over the role of “Elder Cunningham” as the Omaha run began.

Holmes says the musical has a message that most people can get behind.

"It certainly makes fun and mocks and parodies a lot of things that people who are members of the Mormon faith hold dear.  But ultimately it makes a good case for the joy and happiness that religion brings into people’s lives no matter what the specifics of that religion are."

The Book of Mormon runs through Sunday at the Orpheum Theatre.
