Boswell, Latham open campaign offices in Council Bluffs

The candidates for Iowa’s Third Congressional District are reaching out to voters in Council Bluffs.

Republican Tom Latham opened his Council Bluffs campaign office Friday afternoon. Iowa’s Fifth Congressional District was eliminated after the 2010 Census and redistricting. Voters in Pottawattamie and Mills counties are now in the Third District.

Democratic Congressman Leonard Boswell currently represents the Third District, and is running against Latham in the November election. A spokesman for Boswell says the Congressman has a campaign office in Council Bluffs, staffed by an Iowa Democratic Party official.

Harrison and Monona counties are in the new Fourth Congressional District. Fifth District Congressman Steve King and Christie Vilsack, wife of U.S. Agriculture Secretary and former Iowa Governor Tom Vilsack, are vying for that seat.
