Broadway Bound

Students from Omaha, Papillion, Bellevue, Lincoln, Grand Island and southwest Iowa are participating in Omaha Performing Arts’ Broadway Intensivethis week.

Kathleen Lawler, Education Manager, says the week culminates with a finale concert this Saturday at the Orpheum Theatre.

Lawler says this week students will spend this week in comprehensive musical theatre training run with a faculty of Broadway professionals, including vocal and theatre coaches, casting directors and choreographers.

She says students will attend workshops, auditions, coaching sessions and rehearsals.  Lawler says the students get a lot of out of this intense week of training.

"I would say the biggest benefit would be the chance to work with and learn from these industry professionals.  Not only are these faculty members true Broadway stars but they are also fantastic teachers.  So it gives the students the opportunity to learn from some of the industry’s best.”

The Broadway-style cabaret finale is called Take it to the Limit. It features selections from several award-winning musicals including Aladdin and Crazy for You

The performance takes place at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday in the Orpheum Theatre.
