Bryan High's New School-Based Health Center Opens

Bryan High School recently opened its new School-Based Health Center.

Medical staff in the center can both treat and diagnose common ailments including headaches, ear infections and sore throats.

Robert Aranda, Principal of Bryan High School, says the school-based health center represents a partnership between the community and the school.

Aranda says one big benefit of having a health center in the school is a reduction in student absenteeism.

"A healthy mind and healthy body is crucial. If our school nurse think it’s something serious that needs to be looked into, then she can make a recommendation for the health-based center."

Additional school-based health centers are located at Belvedere Elementary, King Science & Technology Magnet Middle and Liberty Elementary.
