Campaign seeks to find Omaha's unique attractions, events

The Omaha Convention and Visitors Bureau wants to hear what places are most popular with residents and tourists.

Through the end of this month, the CVB is accepting videos for what’s called the “Welcome to the Weekend” campaign. Spokeswoman Deb Ward says the goal is to get the community involved in promoting Omaha’s attractions.

"We thought what a better way to do that than to have them capture moments where they’re having fun exploring the city," Ward says. "So what we’re doing is we’re asking residents to do is take video of off-the-beaten-path places, shops. and restaurants that make the weekend uniquely Omaha."

Ward says the video can also highlight a specific area of a well-known Omaha attraction, such as the Henry Doorly Zoo. Some of the videos will be part of ads that’ll air in Des Moines, Kansas City, and Sioux Falls.
