Candidate declares for District 6 seat in Nebraska Legislature

A Burke High School graduate and Development Associate for the Jewish Federation of Omaha is running for the Nebraska Legislature.

Justin Spooner announced his candidacy for District 6 earlier this week. Spooner says he’s a lifelong resident of District 6, and his campaign is focused on education.

"I want to be able to provide local control for our schools, as well as protect funding for those schools. I believe that a school with a safe atmosphere provides a better learning environment for the children. I also believe that our parents and our teachers are better educators for our children than any federal bureaucracy."

District 6 is currently represented by Senator John Nelson.

The primary election is May 13, 2014.
