CHI Renews Ties with Coventry Health Care and UnitedHealthcare

Last week, CHI Healthand its provider-led clinically integrated network, UniNet, announced they have renewed their relationships with Coventry Health Care and United Healthcare.

Ann Oasan, president of UniNet, says CHI and its partners are focusing on making health care more affordable and keeping patients out of the hospital and the ER.

Oasan says with all the disruption there has been in the market with CHI being out of the Blue Cross network, the renewed partnerships offer customers more certainty.

"It’s going to offer predictability on our provider rates for the next two years.  And then we are moving into closer relationships.  Everything is about high cost and controlling the cost of health care and really moving it to value-based care with some of the things we’ve done for our own employees.”

Oasan says some of these measures include programs to work with people who have chronic illnesses.

Or if a patient has been in the hospital, CHI will follow up with phone calls, making sure these people are taking their medications and seeing their doctors.

She says all of these measures will help ensure that many of these individuals do not end up back in the hospital or ER.
