Christmas with the Symphony returns to the Holland Center

By Cheril Lee

Omaha, NE – Dancing Santas, Broadway stars and the audience sing-along are all included in one of Omaha's holiday traditions. Christmas with the Symphony returns for five performances, December 16th through 18th.

Resident Conductor Ernest Richardson says another highlight is the entire cast singing "O Holy Night." He says the production will also feature a group of dancers from Broadway. Richardson says one of the biggest challenges he faces every year is choosing the music for the program.

"There's snowy music, romantic music and then we have Christmas carols. There's a whole bunch of music that really feels like Christmas to a lot of people. So as we introduce lesser known songs or put them into new context, we always want to remember that, for a lot of people, they want to hear a particular canon of songs at a Christmas concert because it brings back this nostalgia for them that we love during that time of the season."
