Cinemateca returns to Film Streams

Cinemateca, the biennial Latino/Latin-American and Spanish film series, returns to Film Streams August 30th through September 27th.  This is the fifth year for the series.

Patrick Kinney, Communications Director for Film Streams, says Cinemateca is offered in collaboration with UNO’s Office of Latino/Latin American Studies, or OLLAS.

Kinney says the films were chosen by a group comprised of Film Streams’ staff and OLLAS faculty and staff members.  He says this year, films from Argentina, Brazil, Cuba, Spain and Guatemala will be screened.

"There’ll be special screenings every Tuesday during that time where we will have pre-show food from restaurants that are doing cuisine that has something to do with the film we will show that evening.  After the film, there will be a post-show discussion, led by OLLAS and special guests.  The series will also have two family-friendly selections so those will be Spanish-language films that will have a component that’s family-friendly.”

Kinney says tickets for each film are sold separately.  All films are screened at Film Streams’ Ruth Sokolof Theater, 1340 Mike Fahey Street.
