CIty Council negotiating team, Fire Management Team reach tentative agreement

Members of Omaha’s Fire Management Team will contribute more to the pension system and be on the city’s health care plan under a tentative agreement.

The Omaha City Council announced Friday that a tentative agreement was reached with the union representing the four-member Fire Management Team. It includes Chief Mike McDonnell and three Assistant Chiefs.

Under the agreement, the Team will join the city’s health insurance plan, and put 7 percent toward the cost of the premiums. Also, Fire Management team members will contribute an additional 1.78 percent of their salary toward the pension system.

The tentative agreement raises the retirement age to 50. Fire Management Team members will get pay raises of 2.5 percent this year, with additional increases in 2013 and 2014.

The Personnel Board and City Council still must review and vote on the agreement.
