Jazz documentary to air Thanksgiving Night on KIOS.By KIOS
Omaha, Nebraska – On Thanksgiving night, November 27th at 8:00PM, KIOS will present the one hour documentary Come On Down To Central Avenue.
The program explores the sounds of the mid-20th Century jazz scene of Los Angeles with historian Steve Isoardi, editor of the book Central Avenue Sounds.
Central Avenue was a hub of Jazz on the West Coast, and the documentary returns the listener to the vintage sounds of music from Dexter Gordon, Howard McGhee, Hadda Brooks, Charles Mingus, Gerald Wilson and many other eventual jazz greats who got their start on the Avenue or who spent significant time there.
The program is produced by WFIU-FM and will air at 8pm Thursday evening on KIOS-FM.
