Community forums scheduled as OPS works toward strategic plan

The Omaha Public Schools district will hold a series of community forums in October.

The forums are part of OPS’ strategic planning process. Teachers and administrators will be surveyed first. The community forums will be held October 20th through the 24th. Superintendent Mark Evans says the input will be part of a report board members will vote on.

"Right now it’s an information-gathering stage, it’s an observation, information-gathering, research, data analysis stage, leading up to goal-setting and some steering committees of which the board is going to be getting feedback as we move through the process so you know what’s going on. And obviously, your feedback is going to be some of the most critical cause in the end, you’ll be responsible for voting for and supporting this document. So we need to engage the board as we move through it too."

The strategic plan report will be released next February. OPS will have more details on the community forums in the coming weeks.
