ConAgra Foods will continue its support of Shine the Light on Hunger, Omaha Holiday Lights Festival

ConAgra’s 2016 Shine the Light on Hunger Campaign as well as their involvement in the Holiday Lights Festival will continue.

Chris Kircher, Vice President of Corporate Affairs for ConAgra Foods, says the Shine the Light on Hunger campaign is the centerpiece of the festival and is a great opportunity to give back to the community.

Though there are changes underway at ConAgra Foods, Kircher says 1200 employees will remain on the campus downtown with an additional 900 plant workers in Council Bluffs and Lincoln.

He says ConAgra feels it’s important to give back to the community that supports them.

"What we are doing is creating a permanent home for the Shine the Light on Hunger ice rink.  When the Capital district opens in 2017, there will actually be an ice rink in the courtyard of that development.  So there will be a permanent home for the ConAgra Foods ice skating rink.”

Kircher says in the meantime, this year, they are moving the rink just down the street, to the corner of 10th and Capitol to familiarize people with the area.

So this year, the rink will be right across the street from its permanent future home.

The Omaha Holiday Lights Festival kicks off on Thanksgiving and runs through the beginning of the New Year.
