Congressional Candidate Jim Esch visits Afghanistan

Omaha, NE – Second Congressional District Candidate Jim Esch is back from a five-day trip to Afghanistan.

The Democrat from Omaha visited Afghanistan last week to learn more about the conditions there. He says conditions in that country have grown worse over the past couple of years.

Esch says the border region of Afghanistan and Pakistan is dangerous, and I truly believe if there's another 9/11 being plotted it's in that border region. He says Congress should pressure Pakistan to force terrorists out of that region. If that's not successful, Esch believes that U.S. troops should do the job.

He also supports a rebuilding strategy for Afghanistan that provides opportunities for the people and holds the government accountable.

Esch is running against Congressman Lee Terry.
