Construction underway on pools for U.S. Olympic Swim Trials

Construction began Wednesday on the pools for the U.S. Olympic Swim Trials.

The swim trials begin June 25th at Omaha’s CenturyLink Center. Setup began there at 2AM when workers removed the first eight rows of seats in the arena. Myrtha Pools will spend the next two weeks building two pools for the swim trials: an eight lane practice pool in the convention center, and a ten lane pool in the arena.

Harold Cliff, Chief Operating Officer of USA Swimming, says the pools will be built simultaneously. He says workers were able to get in to the CenturyLink Center early and stage equipment.

Cliff estimates the USA Swimming event will have a $30 million economic impact on Omaha. 1,800 swimmers have qualified for the event.
